The mount caused too much flex on my Old Town Predator 13 kayak. I ordered this 55 pound trolling motor with the mount. as far as the motor goes. It works great and I would recommend it to anyone that wants a powerful motor for there kayak. The only reason I gave it 4 stars. Is when I mounted the trolling motor mount to my Old Town Predator 13 kayak. I saw way too much flex in the kayak Hull where it was mounted behind the seat. I was afraid that over time it would cause a breakage where it bolted onto the yak. If you could put a large backing plate I am sure that would cure this problem. But as it is to get to the inside of my kayak hull I could only work with a 2 in. hole for my rod holder and that was a real pain just getting the nuts on the mounting bolts. Let alone have enough room for a large backing plate on the inside of the hull. I ended up buying a trolling motor mount that was designed for the Old Town Predator 13 Although I did end up buying a short approx. 14 in. extension control handle because the mount set about 8 inches farther back. And now it is all good. I used a 110AH trolling motor battery and went out on the local lake for 5 hours testing the motor and at the end still showed a full charge on the meter on the motor. So I am sure you could use it all day without any problems. If I had just got the motor by it's self I would have given this review 5 stars If you could put a large backing plate on the mount. Then it would be a much better pair.55 lb trust motor is perfect for my BK13 kayak. Plenty of power with multiple trolling speedsThe easy lock mounting bar is very workable. I do suggest additional hull reinforcement to support thrust and engine weightExcellent trolling motor for light craftThe best for getting to where the fish are hiding. Easy to install and operate.If your kayak does not have a way to access the hull interior then you will need to figure out another way to mount the railblaza support mounts.edit: I tried to use well nuts to fix the railblaza mounts but I quickly realized that was not going to work with the weight of the motor. Instead drilled holes for flush mount rod holders and was able get just enough access to bolt the railblaza mounts to the plastic. After a lot of time getting measurements right and getting everything mounted I was very uneasy about the amount of flex on the hull with the weight of the trolling motor. I was not confident at all about testing it in the water. If you have a sit on top kayak you will need to fabricate some sort of additional support brackets or take your chances on the water. If you want a powered kayak just sell your old boat and get a boat that is designed for it.Love all my Newport Vessel products for kayak fishing. They stand behind their products all the way and are very responsive.I use the heck out of a couple of their trolling motors and never have a problem. Highly recommend!!!The Railblazer mounts effortlessly on the Old Town Predator kayak rear mounting plates and is rock solid. The motor is a high quality build compared to other electric motors and the combo price is AWESOME!Missing hardware. Motor vibrates ridiculously at low speeds. Came completely unassembled and mixed up. No instructions. Using a railbaza mount but you cant assemble it? Seriously? Youre never getting another cent of mine and im seriously considering seeking a refund.
