Every time I use it I have someone ask about it. Keeps the hot sun off on those windless hot days. I use it on my pelican pioneer kayak. It’s best on the hot sunny days with light and low winds. When it’s windy over 15 mph I don’t use it but as long as it’s lines are tight it stays put. Heading into the heavier wind you can feel it but that’s better than frying in the sun.I couldn’t imagine this being a more perfect fit. I was able to install it even out on the water. This offers me shade out on the waterI was looking for a canopy solution for my recumbent trike to block the hot summer sun and enable me to continue riding during the summer months. This is a very affordable option to "standard" recumbent trike canopies which can get very pricey. It will require modifications because it's intended for a kayak. These are not difficult modifications but you need to understand how this device works and adjust its length and its insertion points in the rear of the trike. In my case we had to enlarge the flag holes on the seat to be able to insert the poles (diameter was too big). The loop on the front will have to be tethered to a support on the front of the trike. The bungy that came with the canopy was not strong enough so I used a regular bungy which works fine.So essentially this is your typical beach shade material over some tent poles. That's all you'll receive. I only say that so that you buy the mounts at the same time. The proper mounts should pop up in the "frequently purchased together" section of Amazon. No instructions come with the mounts. Try to remember that the mounts come with 2 different sets of screws to be used with different mounting techniques. The mounts DO NOT get connected by the machined screws. You will also need to purchase some deck loops so that you have somewhere for the tie downs to attach. Last thing....I mounted mine on a Malibu Mini X, which aren't very wide. Because the shade is framed with tent poles, the shade wants to collapse together so I had to fashion a piece of PVC as a spreader bar. Wasn't a big deal and only took a couple of minutes. This thing is easy to put on and take off and works great!I shopped around a bit prior to making this purchase. Other brands were cost prohibitive, at least in my own opinion, given the functionality of this product. It’s nice to keep the sun from beating down on you all day in a kayak, but lots of people get by with a hat and sunscreen, so it isn’t a necessity so much as a luxury. That said, I like it quite a lot. It’s a little difficult to take apart and stow back in the bag provided, because a few of the poles have a slight curvature at the end and also because the elastic tends to pull the pieces back together while you work on a different section. I wouldn’t try to disassemble it on the water, although you probably wouldn’t be tempted to do so unless caught in a nasty headwind, in which case the screen creates drag, forcing you to work harder. You need to have the type of boat with fishing rod holders behind the seating area, since this is where the ends of the poles fit. Otherwise, I would assume some modification would be in order, either to the product or to the boat itself.Everything considered, I paddled around all day in the sun without getting burned to a crisp. When the wind picked up, I removed it. I think I’ll appreciate having it as a part of my kayaking accessories kit, for bright sunny days on calm waters.Okay the cover itself was fine it's going to work out perfectly, however not supplying mounting hardware for the metal for the aluminum frame for anyone else who doesn't have the problem solving skills that I have this wood stump them greatly. I was able to install wood two by four blocks inside the boat itself using adhesive to the bottom of the inside of the hall and a large Fender washer drilled out at 1/2 inch on the top to secure the wood block on the exterior of my kayak then sleeving half inch OD and 5/16 ID or inside Dimension to receive your quarter inch shade cover tubing what's how I solve my problem without adding inside the boat itself using adhesive to the bottom of the inside of the hole and a large fender washer drilled out at 1/2 inch on the top to secure the wood block on the exterior of my kayak then leaving half-inch OD and 5/16 ID or inside dimension to receive your quarter inch shade cover tubing was how I saw my problem without adding more than a half a pound of added weight.Used this out at the lake last weekend and was very pleased with it. Its easier to install on land, tho I managed it on the water. Has tent like poles in segments that bungee together kinda and it's easiest if you start from one end and follow it around. Fits in rod holders of my teton kayak no problem and when strapped down covers most of my body from the sun depending on direction. Super light weight but doesn't allow sun to pass through it. Great for a leisurely paddle in tx water.Product is sturdy. Can adjust height by removing bottom pole if you are shorter. This does act like a sail though. Definitely catches wind. Best used when just drifting and enjoying the open water. So happy with this shade. It was easy to set up. I may be the first to install it onto an inflatable kayak. The one I have has rod holders and the poles of the shade fit perfectly and safely into the holders. It is still snowing where I live so I can't say how it holds up on the water yet so I will be sure to update. Pretty excited to get on the water.Shade and poles arrived but no attachment pieces for my husbands kayak . Thanks for sending something he can’t use . Returning !!!
