These paddles are sturdy, inexpensive, and since the paddles have more surface area than the others you can get more thrust out of them. They also have a tactile index and when they do break, they break in a way that's safe for the user (at the paddle joints rather than the center like other paddles do). I use it for kayak surfing, which is pretty stressful for paddles, and have owned more expensive paddles that have always snapped not only more soon and easily, but dangerously. The only bad thing I have to say about them is that they tend to get a little wobbly at the center joint but only after years of use, if you manage to have one last that long without snapping it.This is easily the best you're gonna get for the price. Plus, you can brag that your humble fisherman's paddle smokes the living hell out of those wimpy overpriced ergonomic toys that cost twice as much.picked up a pair of these for $50 each on sale, definitely worth that price. They are a decent weight but not light weight, the fit feels a little less precise vs. a high dollar paddle too. Good value overall. This is a good paddle for the price ($65). It is light weight and comfortable to use. I recommend some neoprene yak grips for it to make it more comfortable. I would buy it again.I was a little concerned about how cheap the price was with this product was at first, but I can't say enough about the strength of this paddle. I achieve maximum thrust with each stroke, and it is not relatively heavy for the length. After 100+ hours of use it is still going strong through the biggest of waves. What can I say..... very nice paddle performed very very well. A $45 padal... performed like 100 dollar panel that I bought dick's Sporting Goods. Break down and reassembly was smooth. Great padalGreat paddle for the money,I use them for my kayak rental fleet .very strongI purchased this paddle for lake kayaking in very easy open water. I thought the price looked good and the reviews were above average.I have been boating for over 25 years in all kinds of water. Class 1 to Class 5. Ocean, rivers, lakes. I know paddling gear very well.I am very upset that the first time I used this paddle it broke in half within 10 minutes of paddling. I was shocked. I was paddling in a lake with no winds or extra stresses. The blade snapped right off where it was riveted into the shaft. I had to paddle a mile back to the shore with 1 blade. It sucked.the more I looked at the broken area the more I think it was a defect based on how it cracked right on the rivets. So what makes this even worse is I cannot return this item. It had a 1 month return window. I am into my second month of owning a unusable junk piece of gear. I cannot contact the seller as it was sold by amazon. I looked for crack of dawn website but not had much luck. Amazon if you are reading this review please comment and help me to return thuis item. I feel like this should be made right. I dont know what else to do.UPDATE 1/19/15 = I ended up contacting AMAZON and pleaded my case. I got a refund. I sent the paddle back and got a refund. I am verry happy with customer service.
